Windows-specific Why does Fireworks 3 fail to launch after the splash screen appears with an "initializing vm" message? The system's hard drives and Temp directory may not be configured as Fireworks expects them to be. The trial version of Fireworks 3 has been identified to conflict with some Internet utilities that are installed by Internet Service Providers such as Earthlink and MindSpring. See: Fireworks 3 trial version will not launch after the Try button is selected (TechNote 14188) for details.
